About Us

Those interested in the Non-Duality (one reality) message have the opportunity to hear, resonate and recognise directly the Sat-chit-ananda (existence, consciousness, bliss) – the reality that they truly are.

Following the direct lineage of the ancient Navnath masters, and awakened through a direct and simple recognition of their actuality, Kalyani and Peter are able to express this to those who are open to it.”

— Sailor Bob Adamson, 2010

Residing in Melbourne Australia, Kalyani and Peter are from the householder tradition. They began holding non-dual awakening satsangs regularly in Melbourne in 2009, and on an occasional basis in Europe over the following years, and bring their own unique and complimentary expressions to their teaching and to working deeply with people. They live ordinary lives, working, relating, and sharing their understanding.

Their journey together exploring consciousness began in the early1970s. Both at that time had a keen interest in Kundalini Yoga and Taoism, and they travelled for several years in India and South East Asia studying in numerous monasteries and ashrams. The most significant for them at that time were Buddhadasa Bhikku in Thailand, Pak Subuh's (Sufi) community in Java, and at Muktananda and Ramana Maharshi's ashrams in India.

They went on to explore Western mystical traditions and trained extensively over a number of years in Jungian Individuation process. They also continued to undertake programmes in spiritual growth as well as a wide variety of personal development courses. Peter completed a Theology degree with postgraduate training in clinical supervision and was ordained an Anglican priest. He trained chaplains and counsellors, and also worked as a therapist. Kalyani completed a degree in Archaeology, as well as studying Astrology and qualifying as a Transpersonal Astrology practitioner and teacher.

In 1983, they founded the Centre for Transformation which was renowned for its innovative programmes, meditation courses, full moon chanting sessions and for the retreats and workshops they regularly held. From time to time well known international guest teachers also presented programmes and retreats. During this period, Peter was writing and presenting programmes on consciousness for national radio and television, and Kalyani was running her own astrology school.

In 1987 Peter was invited to train and coach senior business leaders, and this expanded into running company wide cultural change and business transformation programmes in some of the major corporations across Australia. From the mid 1990s, the success of the programmes he was designing, and his reputation for mentoring and transforming leaders expanded internationally, and he has worked with leaders, leadership teams and transformed organisations in more than 20 countries around the world. Peter has over 30 years of experience as an organisational developer, facilitator, clinical supervisor and mentor and is the founder of DEEP MENTORING deepmentoring.com.

Kalyani is an experienced counsellor and mentor and is known for the depth and effectiveness of her work both in Australia and internationally. As a researcher, designer and facilitator at DEEP MENTORING, she has refined her craft over the decades, and brings her characteristic warmth and generosity to all that she does.

Kalyani is the author of Only That published by New Harbinger Press U.S.A. and was a contributing author to Under Capricorn, an anthology of Australian Astrology (1989). She has written about non-duality for the respected Dutch journal InZicht and collaborated with Peter on the book, A Sprinkling of Jewels. Kalyani and Peter are both featured teachers in Rhonda Byrne’s latest book The Greatest Secret and can be heard on her audiobook version.

Meeting U.G. Krishnamurti in 1991, Kalyani and Peter’s notions of a spiritual search were completely undermined - searching became a no-search. In reconnecting in 2006 with Bob Adamson who they’d met as a fellow seeker in Melbourne’s spiritual scene in the early 1970s, any remnants in the old thinking habits dissipated.

Following his and other’s encouragement, in 2009 Kalyani and Peter began running Non-Duality groups in Australia and Europe.

OUR APPROACH

NON-DUALITY is relatively easy to grasp conceptually. There can be an immediate recognition of the actuality of what is being pointed to, and in tasting the non-dual space, a sense may arise of having arrived at the understanding. Yet, the understanding is not a destination. There is no final state. Any taste is yet another experience that is simply happening.

Peter and Kalyani offer a rigorous yet respectful inquiry into what is being pointed to. Assumptions held about identity and being are uncovered, revealing that any notion of separation is only thought-based and has no actuality. The unexamined assumption, the space from where the looking is taking place is investigated thoroughly.

The inquiry focuses on undercutting the mind-net of the thinking machinery, revealing blind spots and faulty reasoning, pointing directly to what is being alluded to, and facilitating moving from conceptual to direct understanding.

Peter’s background as a therapist and facilitator, and Kalyani’s decades long counselling and teaching experience contribute to their working deeply with those wanting to end the seeking. The nature of what transpires in any session remains confidential, and conversations are held with great respect.

Pointers by Peter and Kalyani

  • “When focus is loosened and attention is left undirected, when the primary concept - the sense of “I” recedes, objects simply dissolve into the undifferentiated whole.”

    ~ Kalyani

  • "When the clarity of deep-seeing breaks through, a crystal-like spaciousness and deep timeless hum of the singularity swallows any notion of separation. In this stillness, taste the ineffable and sublime, and recognise that this all-pervading consciousness is what you are. "

    ~ Kalyani

  • "The appearance is spontaneously arising. The idea of a desired future state clouds the seeing of what is here and now. The now is always here. Any notion of achieving something at some future time precludes fully recognising the present. You cannot be out of the awareness - it is missed simply through the habit of placing the attention in the thinking. This investment in the conceptual is a distraction from seeing the oneness that we already and truly are."

    ~ Peter

  • "The thinking is constantly appearing and disappearing. Everything is a manifestation of thought and is an expression of that one energy. Thinking creates distinctions which are always oscillating and pulsating in polarity: positive/negative, up/down, here/here. If left alone, thoughts move on freely. It is only the hanging on to, or the resisting and pushing away that creates the bind of psychological suffering."

    ~ Peter

  • “The ancient analogy of the iron in the fire has been used to point out the distinction between what we truly are and the thinking. The iron resting in the fire glows red and gives out heat. It looks and burns like the fire, yet it is not the fire. When removed from the fire, the iron will simply cool as it is incapable of generating energy. Likewise, the energy is the source from which thoughts arise. In actuality they have no volition or power of themselves."

    ~ Peter

  • "Illusion has its opposite - non-illusion. They are a polarity. To believe that what is arising is an illusion is to hold an idea about something ‘else’ being more real. So where could this ‘else’ be? Whatever appears is neither illusory or non-illusory."

    ~ Kalyani

  • “There is no awakening, no attainment, no getting it, no seeing-through, nothing, no thing. It’s not that you get answers - when the questioner ends, there are simply no questions, no-thing."

    ~ Peter

  • "Reference points arise spontaneously. They’re not your reference points so why take ownership? Thinking arises spontaneously in much the same manner as breathing does. While it’s much easier to recognise the automatic nature of the body functions, see clearly that the notion of a reference point, or ego is also just a spontaneous occurrence. If there is no investment in it or sense of ownership, then it can’t be a problem."

    ~ Kalyani

  • "A thought comes up to do one thing, and then another thought says to do something else instead. Thoughts happen and they are either acted upon or not. A choice is seemingly made yet there is no separate entity making that choice. The breathing, heart beating, temperature regulating all continue automatically. In the face of danger, the body acts spontaneously. It’s only when we are out of danger can we reflect on the situation. Thought follows activity – it doesn’t initiate activity. Numerous experiments confirm that thought actually comes after the volition to act – the thought functioning as a rationalisation. The hand simply swats the mosquito, the arms reach out to steady the balance; no thinking is involved and no decisions are made. Recognising that life lives us and that there is no choice-maker changes everything, yet nothing changes. Responses happen spontaneously yet they are not fed. A seeing-through arises."

    ~ Peter

  • "In oneness, when there is a dissolution of the sense of subject and object, when there is no separation between this and that, a natural sense of compassion simply arises. There is a spontaneous response of warmth towards whatever is in the field of awareness. Whatever is appearing, rests back into the spaciousness from which it springs. In the uncaused joy, a spontaneous sense of compassion arises of its own."

    ~ Kalyani

  • It is the I thought that is born; the actuality is we are birthless and deathless. There is no separation. There is no seer or seen, only seeing. There is no speaker, speaking simply happens, interactions happen. There is no doer yet activities seemingly happen. Our judgments and preferences colour the seeing, blinding us to the unfolding is-ness of the moment. Whatever is appearing is what is, and is a manifestation of that energy which is pulsating and forming into the myriad of shapes and expressions.

    ~ Peter

  • “The journey that is no journey is less than ½ metre long – it’s from the head to the heart.”

    ~ Peter Lawry

  • "The 'now' is mind. Past, future and present are entirely conceptual."

    ~ Kalyani
